What is a bichectomy?
A bichectomy is an outpatient surgical procedure that consists of the partial removal of the Bichat fat pads, which are fat deposits located in the cheeks. By removing them, a more defined, stylized, and harmonious face is achieved, highlighting the cheekbones and slimming the middle and lower parts of the face.
It is a very popular surgery among people who want to lose volume in their face without needing to lose weight, or who want to permanently and naturally enhance their features.
At COLSURGERIES, a bichectomy is performed by certified surgeons who evaluate your anatomy and personal goals to achieve a balanced and safe result.

How is it performed?
A bichectomy is an outpatient procedure performed in an operating room or procedure room, under local anesthesia or with light sedation. It has an approximate duration of 30 to 60 minutes and does not leave visible scars.

Intraoral incision and controlled access
The surgeon makes a small incision on the inner side of each cheek, inside the mouth, to access the Bichat fat pads without leaving external marks.

Precise removal of the fat pads
Using a controlled technique, a measured portion of the fat pads is removed, slimming the cheeks and highlighting the cheekbones without altering the natural expression.

Internal closure and initial care
The incisions are closed with absorbable stitches, and a soft diet is indicated for the first few days to facilitate healing.
At COLSURGERIES, we use precise and safe techniques that allow for a quick recovery and progressive results that beautify the face with harmony.

Bichectomy - Recovery
Recovery is generally very manageable. In the first few days, there may be swelling in the cheeks, slight discomfort when talking or chewing, and a feeling of internal pressure.
We will indicate a temporary soft diet and antiseptic mouthwashes to care for the internal incisions.
Between 5 and 7 days, you will already be resuming your routine normally, although the final result will begin to be noticeable between the third and fourth week, once the swelling decreases.
At COLSURGERIES, we accompany you throughout your process with in-person medical check-ups in Medellín and virtual follow-up when you return to your country.
