What is otoplasty?

Otoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that corrects prominent, protruding, or irregularly shaped ears, giving them a more harmonious position closer to the head.
It can also address other imperfections such as large earlobes or congenital asymmetries.

This procedure is common in both adults and adolescents and represents a significant improvement in self-esteem and personal confidence.

At COLSURGERIES, we offer you a personalized evaluation to define the most suitable technique according to your anatomy, age, and goals, always with a natural and respectful approach to your image.

How is it performed?

Otoplasty is an outpatient surgery performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia for young patients. It lasts from 1 to 2 hours and seeks to reposition and shape the ears in a harmonious and natural way.

Posterior incision and cartilage access

The surgeon makes a small incision behind the ear, in the natural crease, which allows for working on the cartilage without leaving visible scars.

Molding and fixation of the desired shape

Through the incision, the auricular cartilage is reshaped to bring the ear closer to the head. In some cases, the size of the earlobe is also corrected or asymmetries are adjusted.

Aesthetic closure and protective bandage

The incision is closed with fine sutures, and a special bandage is placed to protect the area during the first few days.

At COLSURGERIES, we apply precision techniques that ensure lasting, natural, and proportional results, with a fast recovery and personalized follow-up.

Otoplasty - Recovery

After the surgery, it is normal to have slight inflammation, sensitivity, or a feeling of tightness in the treated area, especially during the first few days.

The use of an elastic band or compression headband is recommended, especially when sleeping, to protect the shape of the ears and maintain their position.

From day 7, you can resume light activities, and by the third week, most patients return to their normal routine.
The results are visible immediately, but they stabilize between 4 and 6 weeks, when the swelling completely subsides.

At COLSURGERIES, we accompany your recovery step-by-step, with in-person follow-up in Medellín and virtual attention after your return.
